We are finally finishing our unit on geometry with a culminating activity we have been calling FLYING ANGLES! Yesterday, we folded our planes. Today we got to fly the planes! We were able to see all of the angles, triangles and polygons that we needed to use to make the plane. We searched for all of our hidden angles and measured them.

Take a MATH JOURNEY!
You can pick the type of problems you would like...I suggest 2 digit multiplication! :-)
Travel around the world by answering math problems. The journey begins and ends in London, and has stops in 30 cities along the way. To board the plane to each new city, you must answer a math problem correctly. If you get a problem wrong, you have "missed your flight". Miss three flights and the game is over.

I found this great website! It has everything from addition and subtraction to multiplication and division. Many of the games allow you to pick the kind of problem you would like (1 digit or 2 digit). Since we have just begun mulitplying with 2 digit numbers, I thought the games would be helpful!

MULTIPLICATION!!

We are beginning a new unit on multiplication. We will begin by reviewing basic facts. We will then be moving into more complex multiplication with larger numbers. A focus for all Bulloch County schools this year will be basic facts. Your child will be required to know a certain amount of facts in an certain amount of time. We must work on firming facts and answering with accuracy and speed.
There are several computer games that make this fun. In class we use tux math. You can get this as a free download. Simply go to your Internet browser. Go to google.com and type in tux math. It is a completely free game!

I am also going to introduce them to Timez attack! They will love it! You can also download it free! :)

Here are some additional sites that will time your child as they practice facts or give them the extra exposure to facts. Happy Multiplying!!

On Monday, our room was transformed into cookie-making madness! We were divided into two teams. Two others were randomly chosen to work alone. All of the students were given a certain task. This was their "specialization". We were able to see the advantages and disadvantages of mass production. All of the workers worked very hard, so we were able to decorate our masterpieces the next day....it was a very YUMMY DAY!!
